Chellaston Community Association who oversee the management of Chellaston Community Centre have received a £1,000 cash boost from a leading regional housebuilder.
The Association was handed the cash by Persimmon Homes North Midlands as part of its monthly Community Champions scheme.
The money will go towards a replacement community notice board adjacent to the Centre.
Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions scheme invites local groups and charities to bid for a match-funded donation of up to £1,000.
David Cartwright, trustee of Chellaston Community Association, said: “The community centre is at the heart of the village and a facility used for lots of activities. Notice boards still play a major part in informing the public about what activities and forthcoming events are taking place at the community centre and other venues in Chellaston. The existing board has deteriorated due to weather conditions and age and with Persimmon’s kind donation together with other fundraising initiatives we will now be able to purchase a replacement.”
Persimmon Homes North Midlands is currently building in Chellaston at its Regents Place development, providing a range of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes.
Nadine O’Dowd, sales director for Persimmon Homes North Midlands, said: “We are committed to giving back to the communities in which we build – and our Regents Park development is just a stone’s throw away.
“We’re pleased the community centre can now purchase its new notice board and hope that the Chellaston community, along with new residents at our development, will continue to support the centre and make use of its facilities.”
Prices start from £167,995 at Regents Park. For more information, visit: www.persimmonhomes.com
